72. 五歲被賣給俱樂部女郎｜專訪：回憶錄作家賴水雲 Nancy Chen Baldwin（上）
“One Thousand Layers Of Water And Clouds” 《一千層的水與雲》(暫譯) 回憶錄的寫者是賴水雲 Nancy Chen Baldwin。Nancy 出生在二戰之後的台北，五歲時被原生家庭賣給養母。從日治時期開始延續到二戰後，許多女孩可能會被去當童養媳，男孩也可能會被送給養父母當小孩，被迫離開自己的父母親及熟悉的環境；新家庭也可能會像 Nancy 的養母一樣，在服務駐台美軍的酒吧工作，承受社會批判的眼光。
Nancy 與養母之間有一段糾葛、充滿誤會，但也充滿愛的深刻關係。Nancy 後來有了自己的家庭，在兒子五歲時，Nancy 想起了當年五歲的自己，於是決定將她的人生故事記錄下來，出版成書。
Nancy 有很多個名字，最早她叫賴水雲，五歲到養母家後，她們叫她阿香（台語：啊乓）。十四歲時，她與養母搬到美國，得到了 Nancy Chen 這個英文名字，結婚後又冠了夫姓，成為 Nancy Chen Baldwin。
這次訪談分成上下兩集，在這一集裡，Nancy 講述她的前半生：她被迫離開原生家庭，跟養母居住，後來到了美國生活，也遇到了第一任老公。她要結婚時，養母激烈反對，甚至不惜出言詛咒 Nancy。養母的態度會如此強硬，其實有個非常戲劇性的原因 —— 原因也是 Nancy 非常多年之後，養母過世後才知道的。
